Synopsis

In a kingdom in which elves are exploited for their powers, an elfin escapee seeks refuge with a peasant girl. Although he must keep moving to survive, he is compelled to stay once he falls in love with his rescuer.

Glade, an elfin creature with the power to heal, struggles to survive in a country where his kind are captured and exploited for their powers.

When Glade is imprisoned by a group of hunters, he is injured in a desperate attempt to escape from his captors. Before he can be recaptured, he is rescued by Elizabeth, a botanist in a nearby village.

At first, Elizabeth offers Glade sanctuary until his injuries are healed. However, he feels compelled to stay once their budding friendship develops into romance.

With the hunters close on his heels, Glade must answer a difficult question – will he leave Elizabeth behind before they can find him, or will he risk discovery to stay with the woman he loves?

Character List

Glade

Picture
Gender: Male
Age: 16-18
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.

Glade, who is hunted for his powers, has spent his formative years fighting for survival. Despite his cutthroat upbringing, Glade remains optimistic for his future, and lives every day in hopes of finding a place where he can belong.

Glade’s curiosity serves as a double-edged sword. Although his inquisitive personality leads him into the hunters’ trap, it also empowers him to learn more about Elizabeth, and encourages him to develop their relationship.

Lines:

  1. (Confused) Why would you rescue me? You don’t even know me.

  2. (Sincere) Elizabeth, listen to me. I’m grateful for everything that happened in my past. Each of these events led me to you.

  3. (Sad) Leaving her would be the right thing to do, but I wouldn’t know how to say goodbye.

  4. (Afraid) Please, let me go! I’ve done nothing wrong!

Elizabeth

Picture
Gender: Female
Age: 16-18
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.

Elizabeth, a botanist who lives in a woodland cottage, is a peasant girl who spends her days tending to her garden. Kind and compassionate, Elizabeth extends her friendship to anyone she meets, and will not hesitate to help those in need.

Although her gentle nature is admirable, several people have taken advantage of her kindness, as they know that she will not retaliate against them. Due to this, her friends are relatively protective over her.

Lines:

  1. (Neutral) Try not to move so much. I’ve just bandaged your wounds, and I’m afraid that they might reopen.

  2. (Happy) Glade, this is wonderful! Your wounds are healing.

  3. (Sad) I knew that you would have to leave, but I didn’t think that saying goodbye would be so hard.

  4. (Afraid) There’s no time! You have to go.

Antonio

Picture
Gender: Male
Age: 20-30
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.

Antonio, a sentinel who patrols the area around Elizabeth’s cottage, is one of the young botanist’s dearest friends. Cunning and charismatic, he enjoys regaling Elizabeth about his exciting life in the royal army, and he appreciates how she’s the only one who tolerates his rants.

At first, Antonio regards Glade as a dangerous fugitive, and he treats him coldly. However, after witnessing his developing friendship with Elizabeth, he gradually warms up to the boy, and instinctively protects him from his captors.

Lines:

  1. (Stern/Warning) His presence will attract the hunters. When they come for him, you’ll be caught in the line of fire.

  2. (Happy) Fair morrow, Elizabeth! You’re looking lovely today.

  3. (Sincere) (Chuckles) You know what? You’re all right. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ll miss you when you leave.

  4. (Angry) Get out of here, Glade! I’ll hold them off.

Matilda

Picture
Gender: Female
Age: 20-30
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.

Matilda, Elizabeth’s sister and best friend, works as a barmaid in a tavern near her cottage. Daring and spunky, she rants about how much she detests the rowdy hunters who enter her tavern, and she assists Elizabeth in hiding Glade from his captors.

Although Matilda regards Glade as a friend, she understands that his presence will put Elizabeth in danger. She advises Glade to flee whilst the hunters are off his trail, and she hopes that Elizabeth will have the strength to say goodbye.

Lines:

  1. (Neutral) Knock it off, heathens. If you’re itchin’ for a fight, take it outside.

  2. (Happy) That’s brilliant! With any luck, you’ll be able to leave by the end of this week.

  3. (Sad) I know that it’s hard to leave him. But if you truly love him, you’d be willing to let him go.

  4. (Angry) Don’t be daft, Elizabeth! You can’t hide him forever. What will you do if the hunters show up?

FAQ

Production Questions

Each project has its own budget, requirements, and plans for distribution. If you are cast for any of these roles, you'll be contacted by our casting representative, and will be able to negotiate your rates with them.

If you are cast, your clips will be used for internal pitching purposes. If you are cast, our students will use your clips to create pilot episodes, which will be showcased to our network of producers.

Your audition clips will not be used without your permission.

If this project generates enough funding and support from our network, we will broadcast our pilot materials to the public. Until then, selected voice actors will be paid for their work, and they will be credited in our internal pitching materials.

We are generating pilot materials for internal pitching purposes, and are currently unable to publicly disclose the cast list.

If we are able to generate enough funding and support to make this project public, we will disclose a full list of our cast and crew. Until then, our cast and crew will be paid for their work, and they will be credited in our internal pitching materials.

Submission Questions

Please ensure that you’ve sent your clips to the right email – [email protected].

Please make sure that you haven’t incorrectly typed “mediacontext”.com instead.

If all else fails, please contact Tiffany at [email protected] for assistance.

Of course! We keep all of our auditions on record. Even if you aren’t cast for this project, we’ll contact you about future opportunities.

Alternatively, you may contact us at [email protected] and tell us what your preferred accent is. We’ll let you know if any VA opportunities come up.

If a character has a "Standard American" accent, we'd like you to use a typical General American accent for all of your lines.

Sorry, friend. Auditions will be closed after the deadline we've listed. However, we'll regularly update our auditions page with new projects, and you won't be short of opportunities.

You're welcome to submit 1-3 takes per line. Compile all of your takes for each line into a single file.

Label each line according to their line number. If there are four lines for your character, you should have four files in total.

Sure. Please separate each character’s lines into separate ZIP folders, and label each file as:

“CharacterName 1_YourName_Audition”

“CharacterName 2_YourName_Audition”

You may include all of your files in the same email. Label your email subject as: "[CharacterName1], [CharacterName 2] _YourName_Audition”

We're always looking for new talent. Feel free to share your demo reel, profile, website, etc. in your audition email.

If you're shortlisted for our roles, you'll hear back from us approximately 2-5 days after the audition deadline has passed.

Please don't hate us if we don't send you a reply. Due to the number of auditions we receive, we may not be able to respond to each email. However, we appreciate your submission, and we hope that you'll continue to support our projects!

Unfortunately, MediaContex's team has a lot on their plate, and we may not be able to deliver feedback to individual VAs. However, we're very grateful to you for reaching out, and we hope that you'll continue to support our projects!
