As a part of our Young Artists' Initiative, MediaContex will work with its partners to record the chapters of an audiobook of our students' original idea:
Synopsis
After years of communicating with his friend, he receives an unexpected confession from her, revealing that she has feelings for him. Once Gregory decides that he reciprocates her feelings, he travels across the country in hopes delivering his response in person. However, his expectations are dashed once he realizes that she has passed away, and her younger sister has been sending him letters in her place.
Character List
gregory
Gender: Male
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.
Gregory, an aspiring author, hopes to lift his friend's spirits with the letters that he sends to her. Despite the fact that they've only met once when they were very young, he remembers their time together with vivid clarity, and secretly hopes that they will be able to meet again.
Lines:
- (Neutral) Cassandra and I first met when we were thirteen. I had no idea that our meeting was the moment that my life would change for the better.
- (Happy) (Chuckles) Well, look who's back. It's been months since I received your last letter. I almost assumed that you were sick of talking to me.
- (Sad) I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.
- (Angry/Disgusted) You spent years pretending to be her just to spare my feelings? Do you realize how messed up that is?
Elise
Gender: Female
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.
Before her sister passed away, Elise sat by her bedside to read the letters that Gregory has written, and penned her sister's responses on her behalf. Elise continues this process even after her sister's death, hoping to spare Gregory the pain of learning about her fate. Her efforts are dashed once Gregory receives the confessional letter that she never intended to send, and she fears what will happen now that he has discovered the truth.
Lines:
- (Neutral) It's been a while, hasn't it? How have you been?
- (Happy) (Chuckles) I'm sorry for the radio silence. I'll make it up to you, I promise.
- (Sad) I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I just didn't know how to tell you the truth.
- (Curious/Afraid) Gregory? You have the same name as...oh no.
