The Archmage Legacy, which began as a fantasy-adventure audiodrama, will be adapted into a visual novel. Although its crew is thrilled to reach this milestone, their journey wasn't easy. Archmage's producers, cast and crew share about the challenges this project faced, and how it overcame its setbacks to grow. What’s in this Article? The Archmage Legacy, which will be adpated into a visual novel by Story Sight Studios and Starlight Visual, has grown from its humble roots as an audiodrama. Having funded its second milestone, the producers of Archmage also plan to produce a full-length artbook with concept art from the game. tip 1: Reach your Dreams by Finding Good PartnersWhen the project started in 2018, The Archmage Legacy lacked the manpower it needed to grow into a proper series. Understaffed and overwhelmed, the project’s creator admits to suffering from burnout in its early stages. Once they realized that the project would not be able to grow on its own, Starlight Visual and Story Sight Studios were both invited to collaborate on a multimedia adaptation of the story. Evolution of Archmage's Artwork According to Tiffany Lim, founder of Story Sight Studios, this partnership was effective as both studios had unique strengths that they could lend to the project. “Starlight Visual is known for creating amazing visual novels. Not only do they have experience with this medium, but they also have a talented team of programmers and artists.” Tiffany shares. “At the same time, Story Sight’s writers have worked with big clients in the media industry, such as Cartoon Network and Marshall Cavendish Editions, a subsidiary of Times Publishing. When we combined our efforts and resources, we allowed Archmage to grow.” Tiffany continues. tip 2: Develop Strong Relationships with your Community, Cast and CrewNot only did Archmage’s co-producers allow it to grow, but it has flourished because of its supportive community. Powered by word-of-mouth, which Story Sight claims is a powerful marketing tool, Archmage has obtained sufficient attention and resources to reach its next funded milestone. “This project wouldn't have gotten this far without our community, who have allowed this project to grow by sharing it with their friends." Tiffany states. "When we first began this project, there were several issues with the story and the art style. Thankfully, our followers, cast and crew pointed out the project’s flaws, and suggested ways to address them. We gave them a say in how the story would evolve, which made them feel like they were truly a part of our team. We believe that this may have encouraged them to spread the word about our project.” Tiffany elaborates. Screenshot from Archmage's visual novel "We're also very grateful to the voice actors and artists who contributed to this project. They went above and beyond all expectations to make it the best it can be." Tiffany concludes. The project’s cast and crew have also voiced their appreciation for the project, and have shared their positive experiences with working with its creators: "I've been very fortunate to have the opportunity to work on this project as the character illustrator…I'm excited to bring a new flavor to the original character designs and I hope everyone's been enjoying the current reveals and please do look forward to the future illustrations." States palmtreehero, Archmage’s primary character designer. “It's been nothing but a stellar time working with incredible people on this amazing script!” Shares Jack Broadbent, who stars as Archmage’s dashing hero. "I've had a blast working on Archmage and having the opportunity to work with Tiffany and alongside so many wonderfully talented people!" Agrees Lizzy Hofe, the talented actress who plays Archmage’s antagonist. tip 3: Develop an Engaging StoryTrailer for The Archmage Legacy Through frequent talks with its followers and team members, Archmage's storyline has transformed into a multi-faceted adventure. “At first, Archmage started out as a linear adventure. However, once we decided to adapt it into a game, we needed to make sure that the storyline could engage its players.” Tiffany admits. “We needed to insert options that the players could select throughout our story, and change the characters’ dialogue to accommodate their choices. We needed to make sure that they felt like they were a part of our quest.” She continues. According to the glowing reviews from Archmage’s cast and crew, we believe that they’re also pleased with the story: “I think [the story is] very exciting, the characters and setting are memorable!” shares Feinerine, co-producer of Archmage’s visual novel and founder of Starlight Visual. “It’s so exciting to see Archmage where it it is now and to see it grow from when I first recorded for it over a year ago! I’m incredibly honoured to provide the voice of Min — we share a lot of qualities and personality traits, so falling into her shoes is so natural and, of course, tons of fun.” Shares Daphne Nitsuga, who shines as Min, Archmage’s leading lady. “Zahid is a fun character and I enjoy where the story is going.” Shares Patrick Seymour, whose gallant voice suits the soldier he plays. Despite its challenges, Archmage has evolved since its humble beginnings, and is expected to grow in the future. We’ll look forward to joining these heroes on their quest.
