As a part of our Young Artists' Initiative, MediaContex will work with its partners to create a pilot of an audiodrama of our students' original idea:
Synopsis
Posing as a foreign exchange student, Spella joins the Peterson household as their newest house guest. After befriending Peter, the eldest child in the Peterson family, Spella explores a world in which magic is hers for the taking.
Character List
Spella
Gender: Female
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.
Feisty and adventurous, Spella is a promising spellcaster whose only wish is to make your dreams come true. Although her curiosity is admirable, it tends to get her into a bit of trouble, especially since she resides in a world which prohibits her from solving her problems with a wave of her wand.
Lines:
- (Neutral) Spella Enchanted, fairy godmother-in-training, at your service. What's my first assignment?
- (Happy) I've always wanted to visit the human world. This is a dream come true!
- (Apologetic) I'm sorry, Peter. My magic isn't powerful enough to grant that wish.
- (Angry) Put down that wand! You have no idea how much power it contains!
Peter
Gender: Male
Accent: Standard American is preferred, but not compulsory. You may audition with any accent you choose.
Disillusioned and sarcastic, Peter is a teenager who relies on fact. As the eldest child in his family, he has to rely on cold logic to take care of his siblings, and believes that miracles do not occur. His opinions are challenged once he meets Spella, the perky magician who reveals that magic is closer than he thinks.
Lines:
- (Neutral) What's with the getup? If you're auditioning for the "Wizard of Oz", you're about seventy years too late.
- (Happy) A fairy godmother? (Laughs) My family has housed a lot of weirdoes, but you're the first one who's come up with that cover story.
- (Shocked) How - what - you did not just make that teapot appear out of thin air.
- (Angry) You said that you could grant my wishes! I want you to bring her back!
